Summary
At first, Scaramouche wasn't even truly “born” yet.
Ei had created him as an experiment, a prototype for a vessel she intended to perfect someday. His body had already been formed, but the process was incomplete. His consciousness was still almost entirely blank, leaving him with the awareness of a newborn rather than that of a fully developed being.
Ei intended to finish creating him properly.
Makoto, however, had other plans.
When she discovered the unfinished little puppet, she immediately became attached to him. And when the time came for the Archons' gathering, Makoto insisted on bringing him along.
Ei refused.
Makoto ignored her.
Her reasoning was embarrassingly simple.
“The other Archons get to show off their children. Why shouldn't we?”
And so, the unfinished puppet was carried into the gathering in Makoto's arms.
He didn't even have a name yet.
He simply rested against her, quiet and expressionless, occasionally staring at the unfamiliar faces around him with those beautiful blue eyes. He was too incomplete to understand who they were or why he had been brought there.
And that was where he first met Kevin.
