The theory goes that you always meet someone twice. That even though you might fail at making a long lasting connection with someone the first time you meet them; you may very well be presented with a second opportunity to try again.
The first time Rosie Rosenthal meets Batya Bernstein he allows her red-nailed fingers to slip right through his hold. A jazz club in New York the resting place of his failures.
The second time, in the cold of Thorpe Abbots, he is determined to not make the same mistake.
He cannot loose her again for it is only her dulcet tones and songs of sadness that calm his ferocious mind. Only her red lipped smile that makes his heart pulse. Only her - no one else.
After all, she was 'Bibi' the jazz singer and he was her 'blue-eyed baby.'
They were meant to be.
