Summary
Alex has always believed in love stories full of passion and drama, stories that were a little Shakespearean. It comes as no surprise that he become one of the most successful producers on the long-running reality dating show, Ever After. But then the show casts Henry Fox as its next Prince Charming.
Henry is far from the charismatic Prince Charming that the show expects. Yes, he definitely has the looks; piercing blue eyes, sandy blond hair and a shoulder to waist ratio to write home about. But when Henry’s in front of the camera, he’s a prim and proper cardboard cutout who says the right things but has no idea how to date twenty women on television. Behind the scenes, he’s tight lipped and cold and seems to have a superiority complex.
As Alex tries to get Henry to connect with the contestants on a collection of amazing dates and fantastic locations, things begin to thaw between them and they become friends. And when Alex realizes he has better chemistry with Henry than any of the women, things start to get complicated. Because when true love happens, it doesn’t always follow a script, and a fake fairy tale just might derail Alex’s own happily ever after.

“Papi, what are you doing?” he whispered, and Alex smiled at him.
“Remember how, when I started working here, I told you there was a coworker who talked a little differently than other people because he couldn’t hear? That was Henry,” Alex explained gently.
Henry watched the two of them carefully, obviously trying to keep up with the conversation, and not for the first time, Alex wished he had a better grasp at British Sign Language.
“OH!” Antonio exclaimed as he looked back at Henry. “He’s the man you’re learning the funny hands for!”

"So," Henry says as Alex's brain makes a valiant effort to reboot because he's staring at Henry fucking Fox, the man he has spent the better part of a decade staring at through a small author's photo. It doesn't even begin to do him justice and he's only now fully realising it, "your daughter is a fan of my work?"
"Huge," Alex chokes out, struggling to not make a fool out of himself. "Dragged me here."
Henry raises an eyebrow, face utterly amused as he says, "Really? Because I could have sworn I just heard her tell Issa that her 'lame dad' forced her to come here."
"Huh,”Alex says, "Kids, am I right?"
Alex's daughter is growing up, a fact he is entirely not okay with.
She's becoming a teenager, thinks he's the most boring, lamest dude alive and wants nothing to do with the traditions they had while she was growing up - especially reading Henry Fox's books.
But when Henry Fox begins a reading programme at their local library, she is sat in the front row. Because she wants to be, not because Alex is forcing her. Not because Alex is slightly in love with a man he's never met, the first person to actually see him.

Summary
After a few years of living together in New York Alex and Henry's lives are going great, but Queen Mary is an ever looming shadow. When she summons Henry back to England for apology tour for a comment he makes on a podcast, Henry and Alex realize something needs to change. Before they can make that change, though, Henry's plane home from the apology tour crashes in the Canadian wilderness, killing all on board.
Or so Alex is lead to believe. Trapped in his grief, he flees back home to Texas to try and start over. And over. And over. He finally settles in a small town at a small lawfirm, but it isn't until he joins the local volunteer fire department that his life starts to finally turn back around.
Only Henry isn't dead. In an attempt to both smother his "corrupting influence" but still protect the line of succession until Philip has kids, Mary has had him squirreled away deep in the Australian outback.
And, well, it's amazing how often the outback burns, isn't it? Sometimes, it burns so bad, they need help from international firefighters...
