Summary
Gaia can't be saved, Jenova's poison too far reaching and Sephiroth tied too closely to her Chosen One. Unable to break that bond, she chooses to steer into it. She completes their bond fully and sends Cloud back in time. This time, if one is killed, the other is halved. Cloud can work with that.
Sephiroth gains knowledge of this bond in vague dreams. A blonde warrior who is a sight to behold, but whose death would mean his own. If he is real, he must protect him at all costs.
Too bad nobody told Cloud what Sephiroth wants.
Or; that one time-travel fic where Cloud is just trying to save Gaia whilst avoiding Sephiroth until last. Sephiroth is just trying to find and protect the blonde warrior whose life is inexplicably tied to his own.

Ashlyn (Ash) Novafall is a mechanic (and a damn good one) working for one of the most well-known practices in practically all the galaxy. It's no wonder the shop caught the attention of The First Order. With StarKiller practically falling apart at the seams, The First Order reaches out to Laynor Gal-Far, the owner of the establishment, for assistance. Of course, he chose the best mechanic he had, Ashlyn. With much complaint and with many excuses that did no good, Ashlyn found herself on a six month contract that came with much more than she had anticipated. Some of that including but not limited to a very moody Commander.
