There are several historians in Inishtar. Someday, each of them will vie for the honor of being the one to write the official record of the day their community received the lost Daianthus heir. Whoever writes it, though, there will at the very least be a footnote about how, that same evening, the Daianthus heir challenged a former Lord of Midnight to a drinking contest at the local tavern, and about the utterly ridiculous little adventure that followed.

“Stop playing hockey if you don’t want to get body checked.” Pike rolled his eyes, and attempted to leave but Marleau pulled him back, cornering him. “When did I say I don’t want it?” Marleau closed the gap between them, “It’s turning me on actually.”
“You’re drunk.” Pike tried to leave again, but Marleau didn’t let him.
“I’m not, I’m very sober you know.” Marleau reached for his wrist, trying to pull him closer but Pike tried to twist it away, part of him screaming to leave Marleau alone because wherever this is going is not good.
“I don’t want anything to do with you, just leave me alone Marleau.”

“I’m, what?” Hollander seemed offended and surprised all at once.

He watched a blush creep under Hollander’s freckles and thought about kissing them. He nearly broke eye contact just from that. He needed to stay focused.
“I’ve just been busy!” Hollander defended himself. He took a step back from Ilya. Ilya took a step forward. He stared at Hollander, making the doubt on his face clear.
Hollander’s whole body was fidgeting. Ilya loved how nervous he was making him. He could tell Hollander was close to breaking.
“Admit it. You are baby.”
“I’m not!”
“Then prove it,” Ilya growled, walking forward until Hollander’s back was up against the wall.
