Summary
“I shouldn’t say this,” Colin murmured, “but I find it extremely arousing.”
Penelope blinked, amused. “What?”
“That you’re powerful.” His hands skimmed up and down her thighs possessively. “That you walk into a room and men twice your size go quiet. That you’ve built an empire entirely out of words,” He let out a breath, brushing his lips to hers again. “It’s maddening. That you are Lady Whistledown, and I get to have you like this.”
Penelope's gaze darkened, heat blooming in her chest. “So you like that I’m feared?”
“It’s completely deranged how arousing I find it."or: everyone pities colin bridgerton. successful wife and titled son. he ought to feel emasculated. all he feels is pride (and annoyance - for he never suspected he'd have to share his brilliant wife with half the ton) s4-spec fic.

Summary
Colin swallowed, looking at the amber liquid in his teacup. He had become accustomed to taking it without milk, as was fashionable in the drawing rooms of Venice. He felt as though he trembled upon a sort of brink, something shivering in his throat. He saw before him two choices and he paused, not knowing which to take.
He could cling to propriety. He could tell her Elio was very well; ask after her daughter Poppy; enquire about news of the Ton, and Whistledown, and everything could move along in its proper order until tea-time was over and he would have to leave with the little flower that had sprouted in his chest at her letters still dry and unwatered, stuck in the shade.
Or he could act. Step out of the shadows and into the light.
