Summary
“No… No. No.” He mutters to himself, fishing his cellphone from the pockets of his deep blue robe and, like muscle memory, dialing Karen’s number like a lifeline.
“Eddie?” He hears his best friend’s voice through the speaker.
“Karen. Jesus Christ. I think Tommy’s cheating on me.”
The line sits in silence for a few moments.
“I’ll be there in fifteen.”

After years of being married to Tommy, Eddie discovers he is being cheated on with a man named Buck.

Summary
You see, Eddie Diaz fucking hates the rain. He hates those stuffy days where the clouds hide the sun away and the air feels suffocating and stuffy, or that feeling he gets when he can’t breathe properly but he knows he’s all alone and has no one to rely on anymore. He loathes the shivers he gets every time he hears the thunder roaring through the sky and panic sets in his gut as he looks for someone he knows is not here. Someone who is 824 miles away from his reach. He closes his eyes and tries to erase the flashing pictures of a limp body hanging from a fire truck ladder and those three minutes and seventeen seconds that felt like a lifetime that ran through his head.
