Summary
They’re all various levels of drunk and Courfeyrac launches into a wild tale about the Catacombs. Grantaire has never heard any of this, and he’s pretty sure Courfeyrac is making it up on the fly.
“—and people go mad in the tunnels.” He finishes his story with flourish, eyes glinting mischievously.
“That is the biggest load of shit I’ve ever heard,” Enjolras says, and Grantaire hadn’t even realized he was listening. “For starters, curses aren’t real. Secondly, no curse would make you go mad from lack of sex.”
“Oh, are you suddenly an expert in the Catacombs?” Courfeyrac teases. “And curses?”
Enjolras rolls his eyes and Grantaire is always sure they’re eventually going to get stuck like that. “We’ve been to the Catacombs,” he points out. “Multiple times. Not once have I ever felt an overwhelming desire to have sex.”
