Phainon can’t breathe.
Jagged shards of ceramic dig into the calloused skin of his palms, dark crimson staining the carpet beneath him as scarlet rivulets drip sluggishly through the gaps of his wounded fingers. His vision blurs as he takes in the sight before him, the very project he’d been working on for the better part of a semester, shattered and broken across the floor of his apartment.
Shriveled yellowed leaves and wilting petals taunt him from where they lay. Lifeless and rotting through the synthetic fiber beneath his feet.

In which Phainon is a stressed-out college student drowning in too many assignments than he can count. A man driven by nothing but love, stale coffee, and a selfless desperation to fulfill a dream that was never really his to begin with.
But when the weight grows too heavy, and the cracks begin to show, Mydei catches him when he falls, holding him steady and anchoring him gently back to himself once more.
