“Was it Matt or Stella that asked you to check in on me?” Sylvie raised an eyebrow, gripping the strap of her bag.
“Neither.” He said with a shrug. “I just… I figure if it’s weird for me, not having him around, it has gotta be worse for you. I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
Her expression softened instantly; she hadn’t even considered how 51 without Matt would be for his best friend.
“I’m… hanging in there. It is weird.” Her eyes wandered to his empty quarters. “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine.” He answered too quickly for her to believe it. -
