Summary
Living on the run sucks. No one had ever told Enjin otherwise- except maybe those movies about couples eloping together he'd watched when he was younger, but he knew even back then that those couldn't actually be close to how it actually would be. After all, none of the characters in those movies were ever running from the shit Enjin had to run from- granted, Enjin also never thought he would have to run from shit like this, but here he was.
What those movies also didn't tell him, was that it was scarily easy to get attached to random children you find on the side of the road.

"Wha'?" He tilts his head up to look at her, alarm ringing faintly at the back of his mind.
In the harsh light outlining Riyos silhouette, Enjin can just barely make out the frown on her face, cheeks puffed up. "Rudo's crying." She repeats, obviously upset about this fact. "An' he won't tell me why."
Enjin takes a moment, right there, to reconsider his life choices up until now. If you had told the Enjin from 5 years ago that he'd be taking care of 3 kids that are in now way actually his, he would've probably either laughed or looked incredibly concerned, seeing as that Enjin had a lot of his own issues to sort through before even considering taking care of someone else. How the hell had he ended up here again?

Now, Charon did not know much about his new associate other than he was supposed to be fast, very fast. Even then, it was probably going to be annoying, since any form of change was always annoying.
Then suddenly, there was laughter in the Temple of the Styx.

Hermes was almost beside himself with excitement! Chthonic gods were fascinating, and the boatman was no exception. He had to get closer, maybe fly in circles around him a few times, or even steal his hat, just to see what the other would do. A partnership with someone far removed from his family sounded exactly like the thing he needed.

Chronic shut-in Charon is dragged to a concert by his twin brothers, where by happenstance a kind beautiful stranger bursts into his life. Charon would be content to scuttle back to his quiet house and forget the whole evening, but this determined acquaintance won't let him go so easily.

Summary
Ineffable, inevitable ferryman to the dead, Charon, is solitary in his existence. He has a singular purpose. Greet the dead. Take the coin. Ferry the dead. Repeat. There was no need for anything more.
A new god enters his life to help him guide the dead to their after life. Hermes, messenger to the gods, and the exact opposite of all Charon is, inserts himself into Charon's life and changes it completely.
