Summary
And then, he said my name. Low and soft, like a promise that kept me rooted in place. He smiled, a flash of those white teeth, made brighter by the lingering grey streaks of paint on his skin.
For a long moment, I forgot I was supposed to be leaving.
Stars above, he was impossible to ignore.

Summary
“I told you I’d change you,” Sleep sang. “You wanted power. I gave it. You wanted fame; it was all yours.”
The crowds, the fans, the mindless screaming for more. Vessel hadn’t imagined his life on the stage, had he? Or had all those followers, those come to listen and worship and sing alongside him, all been in his mind? A figment of a golden dream, while his reality was much, much quieter.
Who he used to be did not matter anymore. The change was upon him, and Vessel would never be the man he was before.

Where Sleep turns Vessel into something other (non-human Vessel!), and you (Reader) happen to jog past him on one of your night runs.

Summary
Vess laughed, his head tossing back like I'd said a joke. “You–” he chuckled, “you're serious? I should perform on stage?”
I frowned, failing to see where I’d gone wrong. “I… yes? Why shouldn’t you?” He certainly had the skill for it, even if he did find crowds a bit overwhelming. “Have you performed before?”
Vess wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. “Once or twice,” he admitted. “Likely nothing you've ever heard of before, love.” He nodded at the door we'd rushed out of. “Those three guys who dragged me on stage are part of a band with me. They thought it would be funny to see me perform here instead of our usual shows.”

Summary
Something about his tone of voice, his accent and the raw, honest way he looked at me, kept me in place. It didn't matter that I was still on the clock. Not when we were alone the space between us a live wire waiting to jolt us into action.
“I should–” I attempted to back away, only managing a step.
IV caught my hand, holding tight. “You should stay,” he said, low and inviting.

Summary
III flung a pillow over his head and screamed.
Three hours ago the tour bus had dropped him and IV off at Heaven's Gate. A grand, shining hotel with fountains spouting glittering water in the lobby. Locked in his room, exhausted from the concert, he sank into an impossibly soft mattress that promised a good night's rest. Only, the vent in his room seemed to connect to the room beside his. The one Vessel was in, to be exact.
And the man fucked loud enough to wake the dead.

Someone get this man a room change... he's suffered enough
