Summary
All things considered, it had been a rather overwhelming day for Aziraphale. Between the failed meeting with the Nazi spies, surviving the church bombing, being attacked by said Nazis as zombies, Crowley walking over consecrated ground to rescue him, Crowley saving his books for him, Crowley trusting him completely during the magic show….
Well there was a lot to be considered is all.

Summary
Empty.
That’s how Crowley felt as he stood to the side of the Bentley. Completely and utterly empty.
He knew the fall would come eventually. He’d been through this the first time he’d lost Aziraphale just before the first Armageddon.
Except this time it was real. He’d watched the love of his life, his angel, climb into the sterile lights of the lift to heaven in front of him, and ascend to the place they had fought so hard to be free from just a few months earlier. He had laid himself bare in front of Aziraphale, fought hard to expose all of the parts of himself he kept under lock and key, and Aziraphale had ground him into the mud and walked away like it was nothing.

After the breakup Crowley is struggling and doesn’t know what to do with himself. When Aziraphale finally comes back from Heaven, is he too late to save him?

Summary
As their lunch stretches on Aziraphale slowly comes to realize that Crowley is—enjoying him. Enjoying Aziraphale’s conversation, and company, far more openly than he has in most of Aziraphale’s memory. And Aziraphale knows that he himself is just chattering on, letting conversational tangents carry him along, and—it’s definitely relief, for him, knowing for the first time in a long time that they aren’t being watched, that no one is keeping score for now.
