  For works of excellent quality at the standard expected of traditional publishing or above, these fanfictions contain unique premises or plots, internally consistent character writing, great pacing and a compelling narrative hook. They also may bring an undiscovered or oft overlooked perspective to the original media, be that explorative or alternative.

  All works on my lists are subject to bias, but I try my hardest to be strict on works in gold, because I really, really want to justify how much I want to read them.

  Summary

  For the best of the best. If a work is here, it has not only succeeded from a writing standpoint as fanfiction, it stands high as a work of fiction among my most enjoyed stories - best-seller or otherwise.

  I reserve this collection not for stories I just think are great, but for stories that I believe are or should be read by anyone interest in fanfiction of the media the work pulls from. They tend to form their own fan-fanfiction, and I say confidently that they are works I can read again and again even if my interest in the original media has long since faded.
