Part 5 shows just what this fabric can hold against and what it can achieve, and though in Part 6 the friends, lovers, and companions must move on, they make promises that they hope will hold in the coming days while they are apart. The epilogue traces a few of these promises into the future.

Summary
Several months after Class VII (except Rean) has graduated from Thors, Jusis visits Machias for a chess game and some tea, while Alisa struggles to work with her mother and gains some insight from an old friend. A few months later, after spending the night in Heimdallr, Jusis finds himself in an unlikely situation: being assessed by Governor Regnitz in a decidedly non-political role. Finally, after Rean finishes his time at Thors, he finds Sara and they make good on their promises to each other.
