Summary
Something silent and heavy coils down his back and waits, ever vigilant for a sign of danger. Fright punctures his lungs each time a wayward glance drifts near the fracture running lateral through his pauldron. The one that’s gotten exceptionally wider in the past week, the pearly metal crumbling, the silver band split through, unearthing a peal of shadow beneath. The urgency that was once waving politely in the distance has turned to pounding louder and louder on the front door until there’s an answer, and he’s not giving one.
Even now, as Cera places a black binder clip on his file and prepares to bid him farewell from their care, their pallid eyes stray a little to his left, and linger, meaningfully.
But they don’t ask, and Mir Falspar continues to not tell.

Summary
The lightworld has plenty of sympathetic sayings, for times like this. Mushy words that aren’t worth much outside the silly little realm of friendship and kindness, of a better reality, that they inhabit, and not their reflections. No, no, none of that can be applied here, in the reverse. Absolute zilch.
And yet, no good deed goes unpunished, they might have told him now.
Dark Meta Knight’s not in the market to admit if anything about what he did was good to begin with.

Summary
A direct sequel to Wishful Thinking (spoilers ahead for those who haven't read it)
Out of the corner of his eye, the warrior caught a flash of a blue cape and a pair of yellow eyes as a figure slid behind one of the surrounding pillars, swathed in the shadow.
He bit down a hiss. So he is going to eavesdrop. Tsk.
Not too long ago, maybe half an hour at most, Galacta Knight had been flying a certain pesky knight back to the castle after getting the promise of receiving a tour of the place. He’d be honest for once, he had been looking forward to it just a bit, but no sooner had he touched down, releasing his grip on the other, had the guard commander—Waddle Doo, had been his name—found them and passed on a message. The King of Dreamland wanted to see Galacta Knight.
Meta Knight even had the audacity to nod and then silently walk off in the other direction, pretending all the while that he wasn’t going to spy as the winged warrior was led away by Waddle Doo, and off to the throne room.

Or, Galacta Knight attempts to settle into life in Dreamland, and Meta Knight attempts to solidify a friendship.
It's all easier said than done.

Summary
Static fills the air within the ship, and there’s a sharp drop in pressure alongside it, shattering another row of bulbs. Garlude draws her cape over her arm, gritting her teeth.
Searing, green-blue bolts of plasma begin forming around the vaguely bird-like creature, and its feathers reflect an otherworldly pattern of swirls. It’s stunning, far more elegant that something Nightmare should be able to create, and frightening all the same.
“What is that,” Jecra practically shrieks, looking up, and Garlude makes the ultimate decision to unsheathe her sword and prepare for a fight. She looks to Meta Knight, they both do, expecting him to answer with the depths of knowledge he always seems to have at his disposal when it comes to their enemies, but—
“I don’t know,” Meta Knight answers, and they falter.

Or, time and time again the Star Trio finds themselves in trouble they can't seem to avoid, bending rules and skating by in hopes of sticking together up until the end.
This is no different.

“Eager to sneak something out from the kitchens and hide it away for later?” Galacta Knight says aloud, grasping for the river with a gloved hand as he hooks one sabaton behind the bridge railing, looking as if he’s about to topple right over it when he leans forward past the edge. His eyes narrow in annoyance when he realizes he doesn’t have enough reach to skim the water’s surface below. “Or are you just not interested in getting soaked out here any longer.”
“The rain is still picking up. It’ll only get heavier," Meta Knight points out.
“I could make the flight back to the castle in five minutes if I wanted,” the warrior responds, matter of fact, not sparing him so much as a glance.
“It’ll be getting late soon,” the knight presses carefully, though there’s still well over an hour until sunset. The reasoning is thin, but there’s a slim chance it’ll manage to hold up.
“You could make the flight back to the castle in five minutes if I chased you.”

Or, two rivals are out in the rain, with only each other for company.
Bickering ensures.
