The last group was a different story. Eight people sat around two tables pushed together. They’d dragged in extra chairs, and were talking loudly amongst themselves.
All of them were absolutely huge. Solidly built. Miriam’s eyes landed on one woman in particular. She was tall, even sitting down. She looked solid, thickly built. Her dark hair was curly, her shoulders broad under the straps of her tank top. When she laughed, the sound filled the room. Miriam tried (and failed) to suppress thoughts of those arms holding her down.
The woman looked up and caught Miriam’s eye. Quickly, caught in the unforgivable sin that was making eye contact with a stranger, she looked away. She braced herself for a fresh bout of laughter. When it didn’t come, she turned back and found the woman still looking at her. As Miriam stared, she winked. Miriam could feel her cheeks flush.
