At first, he suspected that Padfoot was plotting an epic prank, and by virtue of his exclusion from that planning, he would be the inevitable victim. James had braced himself, but the punchline never came. Instead, Sirius wandered off more and more often, returning to James’ side with increasingly ruffled hair, more and more buttons undone, and now, a love bite.
He was seeing someone. James had never been more certain. Seeing her in secret, and doing a piss poor job of hiding it.
