Summary
"Do you ever wonder why the world brought us back together, over and over again?"
~
Bloodshed, isolation, the cool kiss of frost on their fingertips - the world has dealt Rosaria and Shenhe a cruel hand of cards.
At least there are small mercies: there is always someone who understands.
Among the peaks of Jueyun Karst and the icy chill of Dragonspine, the world brings them together, pulls them apart, and brings them back together again.
How can you have met someone so briefly, so fleetingly, but still feel like you’ve known them all your life?
~
Or: a story about the parallels between Shenhe and Rosaria's lives, and the solace and safety they find in each other.

Summary
Xingqiu had been acting weird today. He had clearly been trying to hide it, but the moment Chongyun had laid eyes on him this morning he had noticed something very clearly off, and he had barely looked away since then. Out of the two of them, Chongyun was usually the last to show up when they agreed to meet, always opening a door or cresting a hill to find Xingqiu buried behind a book or lounging indulgently in the sun. Never before had he reached the top of the bridge leading out north of Liyue Harbour to find his friend gripping the railing with red-flushed knuckles, staring unseeing down at the water below that reflected a hazy, fitful expression.
“Xingqiu?” Chongyun had called twice before he received any response, already having to push back at the heated waves of concern that had started coursing through him. Xingqiu had practically jumped once he finally noticed he had company, and had immediately made efforts to wave away any trace of Chongyun’s apprehension, but no matter how many times he said he was fine, it was nothing, just thinking a little too hard, the blurred glaze in his amber eyes never truly faded.~ ~ ~
