The simple truth of it was that Jane was scared. It was an unusual and wholly unwelcome feeling, one that Jane was unaccustomed to. He knew that Lisbon expected sex, that she was waiting for it. The idea that she might have certain expectations of him was frightening. He was out of practice, out of his comfort zone, and overcome by the depth of his own desire for her.
The sure-footed, arrogant Jane that she'd known for the last fourteen years had no standing here. He felt embarrassingly like a teenage boy around her now. Poised on a hair trigger, unable to gather his composure.

Alec glared at her. Then he grinned as widely as possible. “Magnus Bane is moving to New York! This is the best day of my life!”
She rolled her eyes. “Dick.”
