You watch its red eye as you tuck yourself into bed, and imagine it a heartbeat. A little sun that flickers with each breath; a red giant whose warmth may have faded, but whose light refuses to go out.
As always, you dream of your brother.

I thought I heard you calling out my name," Xavier reaches for you absentmindedly, only to catch himself. His hand drops down by his side, where he balls it into a fist. "I was afraid you had hurt yourself, somehow."
Something must've shown on your face for the briefest of moments, because he continues.
"...What happened?"
The jack-hammering of your heart has got your whole body shaking like a leaf. You can't stand yourself right how. Feelings of disgust and shame surge through your chest.
