Summary
There are a few things he's learned, over the course of this first night. The ways of this world, of the people in it. The strength in his hands and in his restraint. The hurts of others and how others hurt.
But there's one thing he's learning now, one thing that hurts worse than any injury he's received in the however-many-hours of his newly made death; his big hands aren't always big enough. Sometimes, people slip through his careful fingers.
He watches Alice, the version of his friend at the center of all of this and the version of his friend unwittingly pulled into it all, slip away from him. He learns one more thing.
He learns how to cry.
