When Akutagawa slept, he looked as innocent as Atsushi wished he were. Lips parted, cheek squished against the pillow, a rare lack of a crease between his brows. On Atsushi’s faded-yellow couch, huddled like a child, he almost made for a sweet image. Domestic.
The proper thing to do would be to turn on the lights.
He knew exactly how it would go if he did — Akutagawa would startle awake, ready to attack whatever unfortunate thing that happened to be too close. And that won’t be Atsushi, who’d be standing on the opposite side of the room, finger pressing down on the lightswitch. The harsh fluorescent lights would illuminate them both from above.
Today wasn’t the kind of day where he could bring himself to do that.

Summary
Atsushi’s gaze found Akutagawa’s and an electric shock went through him. The dream of Akutagawa beneath him lingered at the edges of his brain and teased his peripherals. The heat that had threatened to burn through him sharpened. It was a razor dancing on the wire of his nerves. He could feel it in his fingers and toes, a painful buzzing. Goosebumps rushed up his arms and down his legs. A shiver started at the base of his skull and worked its way down his spine. He knew that if he were to look, he’d see tiger stripes and white hair breaking out over him.
In his mind’s eye, the tiger appeared, large and dangerous, looming over him. It roared, a call to his animalistic nature, and the desire to hunt filled Atsushi. He wanted to launch himself at Akutagawa, to pin him to the floor and tear into him. He wanted blood on his fingers and in his mouth.
He wanted to dominate.
He simply wanted.
