Scott was playing a video game when he heard his phone buzzing next to him. He glanced down quickly at it, catching a glimpse of Adam’s name illuminated on the screen, and he paused the game before setting the controller down next to himself. Another glance at it to check the time -2:38am- and Scott could feel the Pavlovian tightening of his sweatpants. Adam only ever called at this time of night for one reason. He picked up the phone and flipped it open. “Hey you.”
“Hey.” Adam’s breath was already ragged, despite his attempt to hide it under his curt greeting.
“What’s up?”
“Thinking about you.”
Scott pressed the phone tighter to his ear in hopes of hearing any tell-tale sounds underneath Adam’s heavy breathing. “Thinking what about me?”
