Summary
House Targaryen was no stranger to rebellious princesses. Helaena dreams of fire and blood, war and death, and she decides she does not want it. Her ancestors had listened to the wisdom of a dreamer before, but she did not have the words that came so easily to others and so chose another way out from the darkness she saw.
She wasn't going to marry Aegon, she wasn't going to live the same misery her mother did. She was going to become an adventurer, explore the world, and most importantly become the greatest scholar of insects the world had ever seen.

Summary
The Second Targaryen Conquest of Westeros, otherwise known as the Conquest of 141 AC, is decidedly simple by the standards of wars or conquests, but has far more complicated origins that could be argued to stretch back as far as the First Conquest, but to avoid esoteric arguments I find it most practical to start with the year 106 AC.
Or: Rhaenyra runs away to Dragonstone before she is named heir. She still becomes Queen, it just takes a little longer.

The day Aerea Targaryen tries to claim Balerion, a different dragon claims her. Instead of dying a horrible death at thirteen, Aerea lives to make her way in a world where once she might have been a future queen, but is now only a lesser princess.
But a lesser princess with a dragon is no pretty doll to be moved about at will, not forever. And one change, as ever, leads to others.
