“I was hoping you’d come back,” Gale said without thinking. He winced internally, all too aware of how desperate he sounded.
“Were you, now?” Astarion tilted his head ever so slightly, amber eyes roaming every inch of his face.
Not trusting his voice, Gale just nodded, and Astarion ducked his head closer, so close he could smell the faint citrusy scent of his skin.
“And…what were you hoping for, darling?” His voice was nearly a whisper, lips close enough to his ear that he could feel the heat of his words.Gale swallowed hard before finally finding his voice. “I was wondering what you meant by next time,” he said, pulling back to look the other man in the eyes.

To say he’s joking, and bark out one of his laughs Gale does when he thinks he’s said something exceptionally funny. To wave a hand at her good-naturedly, and then say what he actually wanted to talk to her about.
But he doesn’t—doesn’t do any of that. Doesn’t even throw her a wink to show he’s kidding; and what he’d said begins to settle more into her... But surely he didn’t mean it.

Gale looked at Astarion.
He was mesmerising. Pale and thin, not qualities he would have usually called attractive. But on Astarion? Slender limbs, lean body, sharp features. And the way he moved, smooth, sexy, like he was out to seduce the entire bar and at the same time had eyes only for Jenevelle.
And Gale had a front-row seat even from the other side of the small nightclub to watch how they danced on the tables, holding onto the high bar attached to the ceiling, moving their bodies all too closely and intimately for the public.
