Summary
“You know what they say ‘round here, right? You take a cowboy's hat, you're either fighting or fucking.” The man behind the bar says, an amused grin splitting his face and all Buck can do is set his jaw with determination as he looks over to where Eddie is adjusting the ridiculous cowboy hat on his head as he chats up the blonde woman across the dingy smokey bar.
“That so?” Buck mutters, a bitter and jealous taste on his tongue. The bartender sees it, still has that grin of shit-eating amusement. Like he knows something Buck doesn’t. He doesn’t know shit. Buck doesn’t fucking look at the guy, his eyes are zoned in completely on Eddie. He pushes himself away from the bar and beelines straight for Eddie, unapologetic as he shoves himself through the crowd and reaches up to snatch that fucking hat right off of Eddie’s head.
A month after Eddie left for El Paso, Buck has lost his ever-loving mind at the prospect that he really let the love of his life leave him without so much as a fight to get him to stay. So he does what any sane bisexual man who gaslit himself into believing he didn’t love his best friend does: he risks it all to go get him back.

Summary
His dad wanted to make sure he was always loved, always taken care of. Chris knew with his entire being that if his dad couldn't be the one loving and taking care of him then there was no one who would do a better job of it than Buck.
But apparently, this 'Evan' guy was written in his dad's will as the person to take care of Chris.
But that's stupid, that's the stupidest thing Chris ever heard. Chris needed to know that if he couldn't be taken care of by his dad then he'd be taken care of by Buck.
There was only one way Chris could make sure Buck would be the one taking care of him. He needed Buck to adopt him, as his stepfather.
It was a great idea, really. Chris didn't know why he's never thought of it before.
It was a win-win-win scenario. Chris got to be taken care of by his dad and Buck, his dad and Buck each got to marry their best friend, and this Evan guy could never take Chris away from Buck if his dad got hurt.
So, obviously, his dad had to marry Buck. All they had to do was fall in love. Chris didn't think that would be too hard for them.
//OR//
After Eddie gets shot, Chris overhears a conversation about the will.

Summary
"Hello, Mr. Fox-Mountchristen's office. How may I help you?"
"Hello, can I speak to Mr. Fox-Mount-krishen, please?"
Alex blinked. After two weeks of hearing nothing but the voices of snooty men and frazzled secretaries calling in, the person on the other line now sounded decidedly neither snooty nor male nor in any way adult.
It was a little girl.
"Mr. Fox-Mountchristen's unfortunately in a meeting right now,” Alex began slowly, “but I could take a message?"
"Oh." The girl paused. "You're not Mr. Hunter."
Alex starts a new job as Henry's new assistant. Henry's daughter keeps calling the office and leaving him messages.

Summary
“You little menace,” a voice says from the door, entirely too fond to be anything mean. “I told you to wait by the car, not go inside.” The man steps inside, shaking the rain from his hair, and Henry is treated to the sight of the most beautiful man he’s seen in his entire life, standing in the middle of his shop with clothes dripping to the floor and raincoat bundled up around him. He notices then the umbrella clutched in the little boy’s hand, the innocent wide eyes watching his father, and the picture forms in his head.
Or, five times Henry makes a piece of art for Alex's son on his drinks, and one time he does it for Alex himself.
