Vi had nostalgia for the smokey neon greens and purples of the underground, but after a third of her life in a dark stone box nothing did her soul better than daylight and endless sky.

“An apple from Kris, huh?” Berdly commented. That seemed like a pretty odd comment, but then again, Kris usually gives her an apple before Berdly gets to her table. So of course he didn’t know. “Whew, they are laying it on thick. I didn’t know they had it in them.”
What. What did he mean by that? “Pardon?”
“Surely you understand the implications.” Berdly says.
“The implications.” Noelle repeated. “Of… apples.”
