Summary
Klaus should have collapsed long ago. Nobody is meant to keep running and running forever. He wants to voice that to the paramedics somehow, but he can’t stop wheezing. They slip the oxygen mask over his nose and mouth and Klaus breathes again. Not because he wants to, but because it's habit. It’s always habit. He’s had a lot of practice using these lungs, he’s just never been good at it.

Summary
So as it turns out, actually staying clean for longer than a few days is a lot harder than Klaus had first anticipated, especially when he hasn’t been fully sober since he was twelve years old and found out about the sweet, sweet numbness that came with a few painkillers after he broke his jaw playing around with mom’s high heels— even if, technically, he’s thirteen again and his body doesn’t yet know anything harder than weed, booze and a few pills now and then.
To say things haven’t been easy for Klaus is almost a hilarious understatement, but he’s trying, alright? Swear down, honest to god, trying. That has to count for something.

Summary
Someone shoved Dave to the side roughly. Dave immediately dropped the gun and went for the knife he had in his pack, about to slash when he rolled and saw Klaus.
Except- this wasn’t the Klaus that Dave knew. Nor was it the Klaus from a faded memory of a diner and a punch, a cult and a plea. His hair went down to his shoulders and was frizzy, his fatigues replaced with a shirt full of dizzying colors and patterns.
“Stay down,” Klaus hissed.Dave dies. Klaus disagrees with that on many fundamental levels, so he goes back and takes Dave with him.
