“It’s called the Alphabet Challenge. Couples’ go on a date that starts with each letter of the alphabet. It’s super cute, and a good way to spice up your relationship. You should try it!” Harry says to Liam and Zayn encouragingly.
Louis scoffs. “Pretty sure if it needs that much spicing…” He uses his fingers to put air quotes around the last word. “Then your relationship is already doomed.”
Harry clicks his tongue disdainfully. “Of course you’re not mature enough to understand something so evolved. You probably wouldn’t last three dates.”
(Or the one where Louis and Harry are frenemies, but a slightly tipsy bet has them doing a challenge that involves going on twenty-six consecutive dates leading up to Christmas Day. Will they kill each other, or find out they have more in common than they thought?)

Summary
It happens like this: Zayn is sixteen and he gets his soulmark.
Zayn had wondered what his would be. Louis had gotten a large flower on his arm, which he had bitched and moaned about at first until he’d realised that the petals changed colour depending on his soulmate’s mood. Zayn had thought it was kind of sick. He’d imagined his own; leaves climbing up his arms maybe, or large vines wrapped around his chest like his mum’s mark.
Instead he wakes up on the morning of his sixteenth birthday, feeling like he can’t breathe. He pulls his shirt over his head, seeing a large purple, angry looking bruise on his chest. Poking one finger at it, he’s not surprised when it throbs, and he throws himself back onto his pillow, sighing. Day one of having a soulmate, and this is what he’s got to show for it.
It happens like this: Zayn is sixteen and this is only the start of it.

Summary
