    Modern AU where Rikuson, Maomao, and Tianyu all grew up in the same small-ish town. Tianyu lives with his uncle, and Maomao lives with Luomen and the Verdegris Hall. Rikuson and Maomao knew each other first, and Tianyu arrives a bit later. Tianyu and Maomao develop their relationship during their high school years, and continue to bond to the point that they become roommates and follow the same career path. Rikuson, Tianyu, and Maomao are all involved in the same relationship.

    And that’s the part that confuses him the most. Zuigetsu’s wrong for lying to her, but Maomao’s not being honest herself - to either version of him. She rejects Zuigetsu to his face, and acts like it means nothing. She tells Jinshi she’s interested in a sexual relationship with him, but she’s now touching Zuigetsu, of her own initiation. Even if he bore no responsibility in the Jinshi profile, her signals were still beyond mixed. Maybe she was only being as opportunistic as he was, when he swiped on her profile.

    Maybe what Zuigetsu’s done really isn’t all that bad. Not if they both get what they want.

    OR, Zuigetsu's been moonlighting as Jinshi just to get Maomao's attention, lying behind a fake dating profile. Things finally come to a climax.

    She could tell he was about to start asking more questions, so she barreled on before the words could leave his lips. “I wanted to see if there were any solid accounts regarding anatomy and physiology, since there’s barely any records of dragons here that aren’t just hearsay and folklore. I didn’t find much outside of storybooks, but the differences are fascinating—”
     
    “Maomao,” Jinshi interrupted. “Why were you researching dragon anatomy?”
