Summary
"When they first came to Jackson, Ellie was secretly excited to go to school there. Of course, she put up a fight about having to, even if just to show Joel and Maria, (the determined members of the “you need an education Ellie Williams” club), that she could still be a pain in the ass, even after having hers dragged across the country and experiencing enough trauma to last not only her, but at least the next three Williams generations. a lifetime. Despite that, she was excited to see what a non-FEDRA, communist - as Joel says (although she still isn’t sure if she understands what that means) - school looks like. She whined and complained, even if just for some laughs, during their two-week-long adjustment period, when she and Joel were given time to rearrange the house they were given to their liking and work on their separation anxiety, as Maria called it, but up until her first day of school she didn’t really feel nervous."
Ellie's been doing great, adjusting to her new, domestic life in Jackson, when a new teacher starts working at her school, and brings out some bad memories, making her & Joel question whether she's just traumatised, or if there is something more to be worried about.
