“We have time.” Remus moves the hand that was cupping Sirius’s cheek to his hand. He squeezes both of them tightly. Sirius looks down and watches the way they fit together. It fills him with a touch of warmth to know it’ll always be like this. Him and Remus fitting together like puzzle pieces.
“We can go on those dates if you want. Hell…” Remus pulls his hands away. Sirius wants to cry out at the sudden lack of his touch, but bites his tongue. Remus pulls a pen out of his pocket and grabs one of their napkins.
He looks up at Sirius with one of those beautiful genuine smiles. “What dates would you want to go on, baby?”And fuck - Sirius is falling in love all over again.

A year into dating Remus Lupin, and Sirius Black wants to propose. He finds the perfect excuse for time alone with his boyfriend when he realizes that he and Remus never went on any classic first dates. However, when these dates, and consequently Sirius's chances of proposing, don't go exactly as planned, Sirius finds himself faced with a new reality that love isn't perfect... and maybe it doesn't need to be.
