"Are you okay?” Ilya asks, concern smeared all across his face, thoughts from earlier completely disappearing in a heartbeat. He never wants to hurt Shane. He had hoped never to hear that word. Their safe word. Of course, he doesn’t have a problem stopping, but that means something went wrong in the first place.
He should’ve known Shane was about to say the word. He should’ve prevented it from going so far. How did he not notice? How could he not read Shane? A nasty knot twists in his stomach.
