    Summary

Pete’s talking pretty now, telling Ray something about dancing and the moon. From the way he’s looking at him, they might as well be the only two people on the road. Forget the other boys, forget the cameras, forget the unblinking soldiers cradling their carbines, Garraty and McVries might as well be the last two slow dancers at the prom.

Or: Five walkers who think Pete will die for Ray, one who knows Ray will die for Pete.

    Summary

Pete McVries, in a desperate attempt to find his calling, has spent the best of three weeks staring at his local notice board. When all hope seems lost, he finds a small advertisement for Ray Garraty's Fishing Experiences, and it's exactly what he's looking for. He packs a bag and heads to the countryside for what he thinks is a nice weekend with a kind old man named Ray.

But there's a catch; Ray is not elderly at all. In fact, he's Pete's age, and to make matters worse, he's ridiculously attractive and scarily talented. After this revelation, Pete's task is simple: enjoy the weekend, learn how to fish, and please, for the love of God, don't try to seduce the fishing instructor.

    Summary

Collie’s not an idiot, and so he can tell you that there are five overall major things you need to know about their little subdivision of seniors.

    1. For Ray Garraty and Pete McVries, life itself revolves solely around each other. They’re chemically conjoined, and no one can pry them apart.
    2. Billy Stebbins is a brick wall. Do not talk to him unless you want to be shot down.
    3. Hank Olson worships the ground Clementine Willis walks on for reasons Collie is still trying to uncover.
    4. Do not begin a conversation with Richard Harkness unless you want to get lectured for forty-five minutes about every species of mushroom that grows in the woods behind the school.
    5. If you're angry (you meaning Collie), you go to Gary Barkovitch. If you need to not be (you meaning all of them), you go to Art Baker.

    Summary

Gary knew he fucked up when Rank stumbled. He had royally fucked up. He watched in horror as the scrawny boy hit the ground, sliding quite a bit. He couldn't see it from where he was walking but he knew that he had to be bleeding pretty badly now, flesh teared up from the rough pavement. He shouted for Rank to get up. Others did too. He needed to do something. Fuck, he needed to do something.

    So he ran.

    Or

Barkovitch has the guts to run back and get Rank off the ground. They become unlikely friends. In the long run it changes nothing.
