Summary
Jinx and Isha had visited Ekko at work once or twice, and she’d always thought his clientele leaned toward the poncier, more discrete side. She hardly believed any of them would take an X-Acto knife to his cheek.
But he never asked why she came home with blood splattered on her shirt, why she was constantly tossing out torn pants and skirts, or why, on occasion, she’d spend the weekend nursing a swollen ankle or a black eye. So who was she to question the oddities of his work day?
Nudging him back to the toilet seat, Jinx opened the cabinet beneath the sink and pulled out a small sewing kit. At some point, it’d been for clothing, but she’d ripped out the essentials and replaced them with skin-safe thread and everything she needed for stitches. She could see Ekko watching out of the corner of her eye as she set up her station, but he didn’t speak until everything was spread out in front of them.
“Okay. So that’s not a sewing kit,” he said plainly.
