Shortly after getting on the train, Jesse found the Apex. Or well, the Apex found him. He was lucky in that regard, because the train was dangerous. The train was terrifying. The train was lonely, but as long as the Apex stuck together it would be fine. Better than fine, it could be fun! It was their train, and they could do whatever they wanted with it. The consequences didn't matter, because Grace and Simon explained it to him. The nulls weren't real. They couldn't feel anything.
It was fine.

Until he met that chrome girl, and then suddenly he very much wasn't fine at all.

Headcanon: Lucy's real name is Lucky and Lucy is just her nickname.
Now combine that headcanon with Natsu finding out that he never knew Lucy's real name and you have this fic.
