“I come bearing gifts,” Dorothea sings, raising the bundle of skewers high. Hapi perks her ears up at that, rising to a stand and practically leaping down the small set of steps, meeting Dorothea in a warm embrace. Hapi’s arms are strong around her waist, fingers crawling up her back, a tight affection that doesn’t quite extend to Hapi’s deadpan drawl—it’s only a tinge brighter than usual.
“Aw, you shouldn’t have, Dor,” she says, her gaze flicking evenly between Dorothea and her offering.
“Right,” Dorothea says with a roll of her eyes, dropping the bundle into Hapi’s eager hands. “That’s why you said ‘bring more food next time!’ last I was here.”
Hapi and Dorothea enjoy a quiet moment together after the war.
