As if Anakin would let him after the first ten minutes of talking to the man who has apparently booked out all of his afternoon appointments in order to give himself time to mentally prepare for a, and this cannot be stressed enough, thirty-minute pleasure ride on a hot air balloon.

It’s rather jarring to wake in the Halls of Healing when one does not remember how they came to be there. It’s even more jarring to wake in the Halls of Healing to learn that you have been asleep there for four years, and that during that time, your padawan has left the Order, the galaxy has broken out into war, the Jedi have become war heroes, your padawan has left you, the Sith have returned, the Republic is under attack, and Anakin Skywalker will not return your comm calls.
After Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes, he has little choice but to move on. There is a war to be fought. There are battles to be won. There is a new Sith lord named Vader who has taken an inexplicable but undeniable interest in him. Untangling the hurt and anger he feels at Anakin’s absence from his life will simply have to wait.

When the queen of Atlantis requests that Obi-Wan train her betrothed in the ways of the merpeople, Obi-Wan agrees with utmost reluctance. Not because he does not have the time. Not because it is not technically his job as one of her royal advisors. Not because the task is too difficult, though it has to be said it will be no easy feat. After all, her intended once was human and has arrived in this watery realm with no understanding of anything that he chose to become a part of.
But Obi-Wan is not the type of mer to shy away from his duties, no matter their difficulty.
He is the sort of mer to shy away from Anakin Skywalker though. Too bad Anakin Skywalker does not have the good sense to turn away from him in turn.
