Her father is blind and reluctant to admit existence of the problem, her stepmother is ambitions and wishes to see her own blood on the throne. Despite Daemon’s suggestion to get rid of Rhaenyra’s half-brothers, she chooses another path: let the boys live, let them serve the realm, but so that they will not have the slightest chance to dispute Rhaenyra’s own claim to the throne.

Summary
All deities know the anguish of being unable to intervene as they watch their beloved children fall to ruin. But no matter the pain, the laws which govern even the gods are clear: Without a believer’s prayer there can be no intervention.
The Fourteen Flames of Valyria are seemingly condemned to watch as in world after world the dragons dance and the dragons fall. The only useful prayers spared go to the Silent Seven time and time again.
But the gods have what mortals are denied: infinity. Infinite time, infinite worlds, and infinite chances stretch before them.
And so they are ready when Rhaenyra Targaryen makes a spur of the moment choice to pray to the Fourteen as she hadn’t since her girlhood before leaving once again for Dragonstone- unwilling to stay in King’s Landing after a disastrous dinner between her viciously divided family.

Rhaenyra and Laenor both knew the backlash that would undoubtedly occur should they not have a trueborn heir of their own, likely courtesy of the Hightowers. So they get...creative. Harwin very much enjoys laughing at both of them.
(A cup and funnel, a turkey baster, they'd tried it all. Things finally worked out when Harwin offered to help them. Jacaerys is born with silver-blond hair and the same lilac eyes as his mother.
Alicent...still has feelings about Rhaenyra's sons that most certainly do not stem from jealousy, thank you very much.)
