Oscar was so screwed. Lando never said anything about wanting pups, and even if he did, the timing right now was absolutely not it. Having lost out on the championship last year, he was more determined than ever to become one this year—having spent all his free time practicing on the sim and keeping fit through various different activities. There was no way it was going to be okay.

Summary
Pierre once said that Charles is a good person with a monster inside of him. A rabid, hungry beast that craves attention, that may well be chained down and locked away in a dark corner, but is there, lingering, waiting for a moment of weakness where it can pounce, break the bars and rampage.
Charles tells Pierre that driving for Alpine has made him completely insane.
It’s not his fault he’s so perceptive, is what he argues. (Pierre just rolls his eyes again and tells Charles he’s a lost cause.) When people are literally falling all over themselves to be near him, to touch him, to worship him, of course he is going to notice it.
So, of course, he notices Max’s crush.

“Max, mon amour,” Charles tries softly, rubbing his hand soothingly over Max’s ankle. “Will you please tell me what’s wrong?”
“Oscar is wrong!” Max explodes. Charles stares at him, shocked. He didn’t know Max had a problem with Oscar. Actually, he thought he quite liked him. “He’s so—why does he want Monaco as a home race, anyway? He doesn’t even live here!”
“I think it’s just a joke?” Charles says, but with the way Max is behaving he starts to second guess himself. No, that’s insane—obviously Oscar is joking. Fuck.
“But now everybody is playing along!” Max says, slamming his phone down on the couch. “F1 and the F.I.A. called him Piastri-Leclerc.”
OR:
Max gets a little upset about Oscar's joke. Charles is determined to find out why.
