He chuckled, but it wasn’t a happy sound. “I married you hoping that someday you would look at me.” She sucked in a breath, and he just held her hand tighter. “And sometimes, you do, look at me, and I think—” he shook his head. “But I know you don’t care for me like that. And so I can be— I can be other things, for you. I can be a good father to your children. I can be your knight, always. I can be the prince that stands at your side when you’re queen."

“You don’t have to be with me here, you know,” Zelda said. The breeze over Hyrule field was hitting her bare shoulders. She tried not to shiver. She knew Link would offer her his shirt or his cloak if she did. She didn’t want that— she’d already taken so much from him.
Link snorted, crouching by the fire. “Where else would I be?” he said, his tone amused, almost like he was humoring her.
“I don’t know,” she said, looking into the fire, her eyes glassy, “anywhere.”

Summary
Zelda stood up, her legs shakier than she expected. “What is it that you wouldn’t do for me, Hero? Would you touch me if I ordered you to?" The words spilled out of her mouth. They were disgustingly sinful.
In that moment, Zelda witnessed the most emotion she had ever seen out of that knight: a look of shock. The light of the fire flickered orange against that perfect face of his as the silence between them grew heavier than a Talus.
There was no going back. "Well?"
