His words were softer then, more vulnerable, but he kept his voice from warbling even if he still felt the sting of tears threatening to spill. He watches as Cassius opens his mouth, then closes it, averting his eyes, and fear strikes through Ryker strong enough to nearly choke him. He continues, voice taking on a somewhat distraught edge, “Wh-What I mean is that I love the time we spend together, I love being able to see you grow a-and be happy. I love that you feel comfortable enough to complain about w-waking up early to help me, I love you-” There was a slight tremor as he sighs, and as he feels Cassius’ hands come up to cup his face gently, he realizes he’s looked away at some point in his rambling. His reaction was instant as he pushed his face into the touch, eyes sliding closed as he lay his hands atop Cassius’ gently. He felt the tremor of his hands, and Ryker traced the grooves of his Solarmech as he calmed himself. When he opens his eyes once again, he sees the slight twitch of Cassius’ ears and couldn't help but smile a little. It helps, somehow, that he isn’t the only one that’s anxious.
