“You keep calling each other sweetheart,” Casey pointed out. “What’s up with that?”
“Yeah, and I’m pretty sure ‘just friends’ don’t cuddle in bed,” Bonnie added, earning the boys an apologetic glance from Tracey.
Clemont began to speak. “Guys, maybe we should stop–”
“Yeah, leave ‘em alone, guys,” Ash stepped forth and threw his arms around the men, who seemed to forget where they were as they fell into the embrace and looked at him with nauseatingly smitten stares. “Can’t we talk about something else?”
Chloe broke out into slow, dramatic applause. “...And there it is.”
“Huh?”
“Called it!” Dawn exclaimed, leaping up from her seat. “You guys are totally a polycule!”

Ash and Dawn hear through the grapevine that married people don't have to pay taxes. So in a haze of drunkenness and loneliness, they decide why not?
Platonic Ash/Dawn; all other pairings are romantic.
"So what was May saying earlier? That you don't have to pay taxes if you're married?" Dawn asked.
Ash shrugged. "Something like that. Dude, can you imagine? No taxes?"
Dawn saluted Ash with her wine glass. "That's what I'm talking about. Now I just need to find a wife."
"Yeah, lord knows that's never happening."
"Excuse me!?"
"No, I meant for me!" Ash clarified. "Or finding anyone in general, honestly."
"Oh," Dawn said, deflated. "Well, same here, I feel like."

"Wait. Let's do it, Ash."
"Huh?"
"Yeah, seriously! You don't need to be in love to get married. We can just scam the system as besties!"
Ash stared at Dawn in wonder as he processed this idea. "Holy shit, that's brilliant. Dawn, you're a genius!"

Gary and Goh pause halfway into the kitchen, both of them giving the red-haired girl at the table a wide-eyed look of panic. The ensuing silence is broken only by the quiet wheezes of Chloe and Dawn’s laughter.
Or, the one where everyone knows Gary and Goh like each other before they do, and Ash just wants his boyfriends to get along already.
