Catnap knew that he didn't belong in this happy bunch of friends they call the "Smiling Critters." Though he considers them all friends, most of them seem to think of him as too "scary and creepy." His words are often too confusing for anyone to really understand what he's trying to say. He freaks everyone out whenever they catch him in their sight. But above all else, he's too hard to approach. No one really knows what he's thinking. They don't know the first thing about him and his true intentions. ...But he was never trying to be part of any of this. He would love to call them all his friends if they would let him. And yet, none of them are willing to try.
However... There existed one critter he could reliably call his "friend." One night, Catnap sits beside his best companion, Dogday. The two talk for a while until the cat says "I hope that one day, I'll be like the rest of you." Not expecting much out of the other through this one moment of weakness, Catnap sits in silence. ...And he's surprised when he hears: "Why don't I help you?" The dog suggests.
With his attention suddenly grabbed, he looks at him. Could his dream come true that easily?
