Summary
House has been days without taking his Vicodin. It's starting to get his head. House and Cuddy made a deal. If he's able to go off his Vicodin and prove that he has some kind of control over his drug use, in return he can take a month off of clinic duty. The problem with House is that he can't function like that. Even if he willingly is given the option to take off from work, he can't for extended periods of time. And besides, he's too proud to admit when he needs help. It's only until he goes through an epiphany that he's left with no other choice.
