“Being transported was always a weird feeling. A pull deep in his belly as the glittering beam took him, and a rush like a roller coaster as his atoms zoomed away. But it was always fast. Seconds of his life, nothing to dwell on.
This time it was not fast. He felt himself dissolve, felt the roller coaster rush and the pulling and drifting… and instead of arriving in the transporter room it went on and on and on. He was vaguely aware of Spock’s consciousness beside his own, but he couldn’t move or think or do anything but float and wait and feel too much. ”
