Logan stares at her, hard, over enunciating every syllable like she’s an idiot, “Do,” pause, “you” pause “do” pause “cover up work?”
A vein in her forehead throbs. “Oh course I do, Logan! At least 5% of people who come in to get work want something covered up! It’s—“
But he cuts her off mid-rant, “Any open appointments tomorrow?”

“How about 5? That’s when I close the shop.”
“But, I—you can’t just—“
“You can add it to your portfolio. I’m assuming you’re still building it?” She can only flounder, voice dried up and abandoned. No excuse presents itself and she stands there, dumb and silent, but he seems to take this lack of coherent response as agreement. “Perfect. See you tomorrow, short stack.” He turns before Louise can splutter further, disappearing into the shop: Smell the Roses, floral boutique.
Her mouth falls open. “What the hell just happened?”
