Dazai Osamu will die today.
It is an inescapable destiny he has assigned upon himself. His story has reached its finale, with no more loose ends to tie or goals to reach. It's rude to overstay one's welcome once they’ve finished what they sought out to achieve, isn’t it?No one can stop the man once he’s made up his mind, so he expects his departure to be swift and beautiful, just as he has always wanted. Most people won’t even notice he’s gone, he predicts.
Nakajima Atsushi is not ‘most people’.

Dazai goes through with ending his life, hoping for a painless end. Instead, fate - or maybe it’s just Atsushi - refuses to let him go, and his experience becomes far more than what he imagined his death would be like.
