Summary
Adrien is the second prince of Atlantica and the merpeople. But he feels suffocated by his overly-controlling father's rules and abandoned by his distant, cold older brother, Félix.
His only happiness is escaping the palace whenever his family isn't looking to collect human objects on the seafloor along with his only friend, his kwami, Plagg.
Adrien dreams of living his life in the human realm and joining the other Miraculous owners as a superhero and feeling like he can be of use, instead of being stuck in the waters in Atlantica where the Miraculous have no place.
But one night, he goes up to the surface to check out a human ship, and winds up meeting, rescuing, and falling in love with the beautiful human Princess Marinette, the owner of the Ladybug Miraculous.
Desperate for freedom, a chance to be a real hero, and Marinette's love, Adrien strikes a dangerous bargain with Hawk Moth, the wicked sea warlock to become a human. His task: get Marinette to fall in love with him and kiss her in three days' time, or else change back into a merboy and be under Hawk Moth's clutches forever.
